I recently learned all about a fascinating weave: lampas. The photos above are of a pillow that I designed and wove. For more photos, drafts, and notes about my experience with lampas click here.
I learned how to design and weave cloth with a Moiré effect by studying Verda Elliott’s article, “Woven Moiré: a Fabric that is About a Fabric,” published in Weaver’s magazine issue #20, 1993. The above two samples are woven by superimposing two threadings and two treadlings using 15 shafts. For additional photos, drafts, and details about this interesting weave go to my full post about it.
The table runners in the above photos are all woven on the same warp as tied overshot, also known as stars and diamonds weave. To learn more about how I designed and wove them you are welcome to read my post with drafts, notes, and more photos of this interesting weave by clicking here.
